Lisa Burgess
Tibii Service Manager
My name is Lisa Burgess, and I currently serve as the Service Manager Lead at Tibii.Â
I have always been passionate about collaborating with others and contributing to their personal and professional development. My career began at the age of 17 when I had the privilege of working under a remarkable manager who recognised my potential and supported my growth. This mentorship led to my promotion to a 2IC role and subsequently a managerial position within a few months, marking the start of my journey.
I had started my studies in community services and then later moved on to Children’s services.
During this time, I had the opportunity to support and educate children with disabilities and work alongside the government and then a centre for our first nations people, This reinforced my passion for this field. I discovered that the joy of making a positive impact in someone's life, through presence and dedicated support, was truly fulfilling.
Tibii’s pioneering human rights approach in Australia resonates deeply with me. The organisation’s commitment to staff and participant well-being, as well as its openness to innovative ideas and supportive environment, sets it apart from others. Here, we are encouraged to challenge conventional decisions and advocate for the dignity and autonomy of our participants, ensuring they live lives filled with happiness, love, and fulfilment. I am dedicated to my role at Tibii and strive to make a meaningful impact every day.
Outside of work, I cherish my role as a mother, which continually reminds me of the importance of treating every individual with equal respect and consideration. Each person deserves the best possible support, and I am committed to providing that through thoughtful and innovative approaches.
