Tibii Operations Manager

Hello, my name is George Foumakis, and I have proudly dedicated the last 7 years of my professional career to the disability services sector. For almost 3 and a half of those years, I have been honoured to work alongside the amazing team at Tibii, where I serve as the Operations Manager.

My journey into the disability services sector began on a deeply personal note. I spent several years caring for my beautiful mother, Maria, who required substantial support. This experience not only deepened my compassion and understanding of the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities and their families but also sparked a profound interest in pursuing a career in this field. Driven by this passion, I decided to enrol in a Diploma of Youth Work, which provided me with the foundational knowledge and skills necessary to make a positive impact in the lives of others.

Following my studies, I embarked on my professional journey with a previous organisation, where I served in various roles, including Support Worker, Team Leader, and Service Coordinator, over a span of almost 4 years. During this time, I gained extensive experience working in complex needs settings, developing a deep understanding of the unique requirements and challenges faced by individuals with high support needs. This period of my career was incredibly formative, as it equipped me with the practical skills and insights necessary to excel in the sector.

In 2021, I was approached by my business partner, Pouya, with an exciting opportunity to co-found Tibii. From its inception, Tibii has felt like a family to me. The bonds we have formed with each other, our participants, and support workers are not only strong but also deeply meaningful and lasting. This sense of community and belonging is at the heart of what makes Tibii special. Every day, I wake up excited to go to work, knowing that each day brings new challenges, opportunities, and the chance to make a real difference in the lives of the people we support.

At Tibii, our mission is to provide high-quality, person-centred support that enhances the lives of our participants and their families. We believe in taking a Human Rights Approach to disability services, which means that we prioritise the dignity, autonomy, and the human rights of the individuals we support. This approach aligns with our core values and our commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment where everyone can thrive.

Our specialisation in Complex Needs Support, particularly in Supported Independent Living (SIL) settings, is a testament to our dedication to providing tailored and comprehensive care. Many of our participants require intensive support, with most needing 1:1 or 2:1 assistance. Our team of skilled and compassionate support workers is trained to meet these needs, ensuring that each participant receives the individualised care and attention they deserve.

One of the most rewarding aspects of my role at Tibii is the opportunity to meet and connect with our participants and their families. I genuinely enjoy building relationships with them, understanding their unique needs and goals, and working collaboratively to create positive outcomes. Seeing the positive impact of our work on the lives of our participants and their families is incredibly fulfilling and motivates me to continue striving for excellence in everything we do.

Looking ahead, I am excited about the future of Tibii and the opportunities that lie ahead. We are committed to expanding our services, reaching more individuals in need, and continuing to innovate in the field of disability services. Our focus on the Human Rights Approach and our specialisation in Complex Needs Support set us apart, and I am confident that Tibii will continue to lead the way in providing exceptional care and support to those who need it most.

In conclusion, my journey in the disability services sector has been deeply rewarding and fulfilling. From caring for my mother to co-founding Tibii, each step has reinforced my commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of others. I am proud to be part of the Tibii family and look forward to continuing our mission of providing high-quality, human-centred support to individuals with disabilities and their families.
